Japanese Makai Bowl
Détails du produit
In Okinawa, "Makai" is a type of tableware traditionally used for soba and rice bowl dishes. There are 4 different designs to choose from:
①Fish: A traditional Okinawan fish pattern, signifying prosperity and happiness.
②Whale Shark: A whale shark, the village fish of Yomitan, sits in the center of the plate. Hibiscus decorates the borders in typical Okinawan fashion.
③Sea Turtle: A sea turtle lies in the center of the dish, visiting the village of Yomitan to lay its eggs. Hibiscus decorates the borders in typical Okinawan fashion.
④Shell Ginger: The center of the plant, known as sannin in Okinawa, has long been a crucial part of people's lives. It’s used as a medicinal herb to ward off evil spirits and to wrap rice cakes and jushi (Okinawan style seasoned rice).
