NOUSAKU - Slim Onion Horn
In Japan, there are various sounds that represent each of the four seasons. Japanese people feel coolness from the sound of wind chimes hanging on windowsills (blown by the wind), and wind chimes have long been popular as an item to keep cool in summer. Wind chimes come in three beautiful shapes with a dignified sound and a clear tone that only brass can produce. Nohsaku's wind chimes are made of brass. They are carefully made by craftsmen who apply the soldering iron finish one by one. The appearance of the wind chimes is simple in design, but has smooth and beautiful curves, which attracts our attention. The wind chimes made by craftsmen are beautiful in every detail, and the unadorned beauty of the brass material itself is fascinating.
Several types of wind chimes
The three types of wind chimes, slim, onion, and horn, have different tones due to their different shapes. Moreover, since each wind-bell is handmade, the difference is subtle, but no two wind-bells have exactly the same sound, even if they have the same shape.
The Slim Onion Horn was designed by Katsuji Nousaku, the current president of Nousaku, who himself has been making cast iron for 18 years as a craftsman. Designed by Nousaku himself, who is well versed in castings and materials, this wind chime is characterized by its more resonant sound than other wind chimes.
Production process of Slim Onion Horn
Brass is characterized by its clear sound and has been used for wind instruments such as horns and trumpets, and in Japan, as a material for orin (a bell shaped like a bowl that produces a high-pitched, clear sound when struck with a stick), a kind of Buddhist altar. The sound made by brass wind chimes blown by the wind is smooth and leaves a lingering sound that melts into the body.
These wind chimes, which are not decorated and show the beauty of brass itself, are the result of advanced casting and finishing techniques, superior wisdom, tradition, and the spirit of craftsmanship that have been handed down from one generation of craftsmen to another for over 100 years.
The simple design of the wind chimes is recommended not only for the original purpose of enjoying the coolness of summer, but also as an interior decoration for your room, regardless of the season.
At times, please listen carefully to the sound of wind chimes and enjoy the lingering sound.
